![]() ![]() To use a brush in Maya enter the Paint Effects view by hitting the “8” key or by selecting the Paint Effects Panel from any Panel Menu. Both views are good for previewing brush output in a variety of forms. The Scene View within Paint Effects is similar to the regular 3d view with the exception of being able to display the final rendered effect that is output by a Paint Effects Stroke. To see those changes we need to switch to the Scene View. Also, changes made in the Attribute Editor will not be displayed in the Canvas View. Any changes made in the Attribute Editor will alter existing strokes. The hotkey for the Attribute Editor is Cntrl>a.Īny changes made in the Template brush settings will alter the next stroke. You can also access the attributes by selecting a stroke that is in your scene and going to Window>Attribute Editor. The attributes for the brush can be found by going to the Rendering menu set > Paint Effects> Template Brush Settings. The result depends on attributes found on the stroke of the brush you are using. You can use the canvas view to create textures, build your own brush, or to preview any of the brushes found in the visor. These menus and other functions can also be accessed by clicking the right mouse button on the canvas. The various buttons at the top of the Canvas View are commonly used functions. The other is the 3d or Scene View where the results of brushes can be seen in 3d. One is the Canvas View that is useful for creating textures. It can also be accessed from any Panel menu which will change the active panel to the Paint Effects Panel. The Paint Effects Panel can be accessed simply by hitting the “8” key.
